Dades Gorge, Morocco. Jan 2013
Do you ever see pictures from places around the world, and have a moment of recognition and say “I’ve stood in this exact same spot.”
Usually when I have a moment like this it’s more along the lines of, “why couldn’t I take a picture like that?”
But cool photography angles aside, I get a chill every time I see one of these pictures. Its a chance to relive the very moment you were in that spot. Your mood, your sensory pickup, the company you were in, the environment around you.
It creates the opportunity for you to share a bond with people you’ve never met. You’ve stood in the same spot, seen the same horizon.
But everyone sees it with their own unique perspective. Everyone focuses on different aspects of the scene. Certain senses might be stronger than others. Some will remember the sound, some will remember view, some will remember the smell. Some will focus on the nature, some will focus on the other people.
Its amazing how different people’s perspectives can be on the exact same thing.
That’s the beauty of sharing travel experiences. It’s a chance to exchange ideas, give people perspectives they would have never considered before. And instead of focusing on wanting their experience to be the correct one, everyone is appreciative of the fact that they have the ability to share this with others. Gratitude for being fortunate enough to have these conversations with ones. Proud to be able to tell their story.
